From Rallycross to Rallying!

It was only two weeks ago when Belgian Driver Kris Fruru took 3rd in the Swift Rallycross Championships at the final round of the British Rallycross Championship at Croft Circuit.

Today the car emerges from the PGM base ready to take on the stages of the Tempest Rally.

Piloting the PGM Hire Swift is Polish Driver Piotr Rudzki who is starting out his rallying career this season.  Progressing through driver coaching with Peter Gwynne he now puts his training into practice in his Swift debut.

Pre Pembrey Coaching for Swift Rallycross Driver

Driver Coaching day today for Swift Sport Rallycross Championship driver Tristan Ovenden. 

Being a consistant front-runner in the championship, Ovenden noticed the improvement in fellow championship contender Kris Fruru and thought it was worth having some time in the car ready for the next round of the British Rallycross Championship at Pembrey Circuit, Llanelli on the 29th September 2013.

Peter Gwynne "It did not take Tristan long to get his confidence in his Swift when he started out and now he is a front-runner in the championship.  He is very consistent and smooth with the car, which is often the case with people with motocross experience.  We made a few tweaks on the car and worked on a few areas, all being well he will bring in a good result in Wales at the end of the month."  

Trax High Performance Show 2013 - Silverstone Circuit

Sunday we visited Silverstone Circuit for Trax High Performance Show.

The huge crowds  were not put off by the unwelcome rain shower that descended in the afternoon. It was great to talk to so many Motorsport enthusiasts at this entertaining show which brings some of the high performance vehicles from a mix of disciplines including Rallying, Drifting, Rallycross and Racing.

Driver Coaching Day

Great progress for Polish driver Peter Rudzki with his Driver Coaching yesterday. Peter did his first rally last month and narrowly missed out on 3rd in class after a mechanical failure with his hire car on the last stage. He is now working towards Rallye Sunseeker in October.

All Smiles at Swift Open Day

As organisers of the Swift Rallycross Championships, Peter Gwynne Motorpsort Ltd  held an Open Day near Silverstone offering adults and juniors the chance to sample the Rallycross Suzuki Swifts.

 Youngest member of Mullen Motorsport! - Aaron Mullen

Visitors from Rallying, Karting and Car Show Supporters attended to drive the swifts along with a number of youngsters taking the Junior Swift for a spin including Aaron Mullen, younger brother of 2012 Swift Sport Rallycross Champion Chris Mullen.

Under the guidance of Peter Gwynne, 10 year old Mini Mullen did not take long to get the car sliding and show he planned to be following in his older brothers successful footsteps.

Another youngster with a love for Motorsport, Alex Tait had a surprise visit when his parents brought him along for an afternoon driving the Junior Swift after he raved about the swifts since their visit to Mallory Park earlier this month where at the age of 15 Tait was already marshalling, assisting on the dummy grid. 

Tait explained 'I am keen to learn all areas of Motorsport and feel it beneficial to learn both sides of racing, if I know how a race meeting runs and how it works in the paddock it will help if I get the opportunity to race.  I am already helping on Sixth Gear Experience days,my dream is to get my ARDS licence, rally licence, and be educated in all aspects of driving to then help others.'
